about the studio

a year from now, your back catalogue sounds like one show.

Juniper Yard Audio is one small room at 8 Della Dr in West Babylon, built for people who make podcasts and would rather not make them sound decent by hand. We edit, mix and master. We also tell you when your recording is the problem, which is less fun than it sounds but saves everyone money.

how the yard got a name

started by fixing friends’ episodes for free

The story is unglamorous. A few podcasters we knew kept losing weekends to editing, and kept shipping episodes with the dishwasher audible in the background. We started cleaning up their files as a favour. Then the favours needed an invoice.

Juniper is the tree outside the window. The yard is the point: it’s small, it’s ours, and it’s the same two ears on your episode six as on episode one.

  1. the first favour

    one friend, one messy interview

A 74-minute chat recorded on a laptop in a kitchen. We got it listenable and learned how much of editing is deciding what to leave alone.

  2. the first rule

no episode ships without an earbud test

If it only sounds good on studio monitors, it doesn’t sound good. Third pass, cheap earbuds, faucet running.

  3. the first price list

    a number before a call

Everyone kept asking what it would cost and getting a “depends.” We wrote down $96 an episode and have been defending it since.

  4. now

    independent creators and B2B shows

Solo hosts, small companies with a branded interview series, and the occasional person launching a first season with a trailer and no idea where to start.

house rules

four things we do every single time

  1. we listen first, then quote

You send a sample, we tell you straight what’s fixable. If the recording is the bottleneck, you hear it before you pay a cent.

  2. we keep the human parts

Laughs, breaths and the odd pause stay. We cut dead air and stumbles, not personality. We don’t flatten accents or sand you into a radio voice.

  3. we match, not impress

Your last episode and your next one should sound like neighbours. Consistent levels at −16 LUFS beat one spectacular mix and five weaker ones.

  4. we say no early

Video cuts, guest booking and ad sales aren’t ours. We’ll point you to someone who does them properly rather than do them badly.

the honest bit

who we’re good for, and who we aren’t

A small studio can’t be everything. Here’s the quiet part, said out loud.

a good fit

you record regularly and hate editing

Weekly or fortnightly shows with a steady format.

B2B interview series that need a consistent, clean sound.

New shows launching a full season with a trailer.

probably not

you want something we don’t make

Video podcast cuts and social video clips.

Same-day turnaround. Our batches take three business days.
